Samsung SSD 970 Evo Plus Review

With the 970 Evo Plus, Samsung wants to go one step further and improve on the 970 Evo, which has already won an award in our test. In order to achieve this goal, the writing speed of the 250 GB variant should have been improved by 53%. But this test is intended to show whether this promise can be kept.

Accessories

The SSD only comes with an instruction manual as a physical accessory. However, various software can be obtained from the Samsung website. On the one hand, the program “Samsung Magician” is offered, which can be used to display some SMART attributes. On the other hand the program “Samsung Data Migration Software” is offered. This makes it easy to move from an existing system to a Samsung SSD. This worked without any problems in the test.

Technical Specifications of the Samsung 970 Evo Plus

The 970 Evo Plus is currently available in three different memory sizes in the M.2 2280 form factor. PCIe 3.0 x4 is used as the interface. A 2 TB version of the Samsung SSD 970 Evo Plus will follow in May this year. Technically, the SSD is very similar to the 970 Evo. However, the write speed with and without TurboWrite is said to have been increased by up to 53%. Instead of 1500 MB/s write speed so far, 2300 MB/s should now be achieved (250 GB variant).
