Slimmer and Stronger – New Spin Generation from Acer

The Spin series from Acer gets a new generation. The new models of the Spin 3 and Spin 5 series now feature slimmer housings and are equipped with the latest 10th generation Intel processors. With the new devices, Acer is targeting professionals and students in particular, as the Spin models feature a flexible design. You can easily sketch, take notes, create content and give presentations all day long.

All in all, the new Acer Spin models feature a quick-charging Acer Active Stylus with Wacom AES 1.0, reliable and fast WiFi 6 and a wide range of ports, including USB Type-C with Thunderbolt 3 support. The hinge is also designed to raise the keyboard slightly in notebook mode for more comfortable typing
offers. In detail it looks like this:

Spin 5 notebook

This device is just 14.9 millimeters thin, has a 13.5-inch touch display with 2k resolution (2,256 x 1,504), a 7.8 mm thin display frame and a correspondingly high screen-to-body ratio of 80 percent. The 3:2 aspect ratio provides an 18 percent larger visible area compared to a 16:9 display, so users have to scroll less. The notebook weighs in at 1.2 kg and an integrated fingerprint sensor enables fast and secure login via Windows Hello.

The Spin 5 has up to 1 TB of SSD memory and up to 16 GB of RAM. In terms of battery life, the notebook cuts a fine figure on paper. 15 hours is written here. The Spin 5 has two USB Type C ports with Thunderbolt 3 support. Thus, you can play 4K videos on external displays as well as transfer various data to other devices. The Spin 5’s connections are completed by two USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports, one of which has an offline charging function, an HDMI connection and a MicroSD card reader.

Spin 3 notebook

The Spin 3 has a large 14 inch Full HD display with touch function in the traditional 16:9 format. With a 7.82 mm narrow display bezel, the convertible achieves a screen-to-body ratio of 78 percent. The large widescreen display thus offers sufficient space for working on several projects or comparing different documents. With a weight of 1.5 kg and an overall height of 16.9 millimeters, the notebook looks very portable.

The Spin 3 can even be optionally equipped with two SSDs and also has up to 16 GB RAM. The battery life is stated by the manufacturer with up to 12 hours. The Spin 3 is equipped with a USB Type-CPort with Thunderbolt™ 3 support, two USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports, one of which also has an offline charging function, HDMI and MicroSD card reader.

Acer Active Stylus: Quickly charged and ready for use

As already teased above, both models come standard with a quick-charging Acer Active Stylus with Wacom AES 1.0 stylus. The integrated AES technology mimics the writing experience of ink on paper with 4,096 pressure levels. The Spin 5 also supports the optional Acer Active Stylus with Wacom AES 2.0 technology for even more authentic pen input, the manufacturer said. This impression is also created by its length and textured surface, which makes the Stylus look like a real fountain pen and feels comfortable in the hand. While it is not in use, the pen can be used in the practical

What else can the notebooks do?

Both Spin models are equipped with Intel Core i7 processors of the 10th generation and are said to offer reliable performance even for video editing and occasional gaming thanks to integrated Intel Iris Plus graphics cards. Both models support fast charging and come back up to 4 hours of operating time with only 30 minutes charging time. Both Spin models have dual speakers and dual microphones for good audio transmission during online chats and video conferences. Via Cortana, users can also control the device via voice commands – even in standby mode.

Prices and availability

The Spin 3 is expected to be available from March at a price starting at 699 euros. In contrast, the Spin 5 model will become more expensive. This model will probably be available from April from 1,099 euros.
