Adata Legend 840 - Low-priced PCIe Gen 4 SSD with Innogrit controller in review

Die ADATA Legend 840 clearly is a SSD that under-promises and over-achieves.

In my Lenovo X1 Gen 10 intel i7 1280P with 32GB RAM I do get significant higher read and write speeds. Read >5100MB/s and write >4900MB/s. The missing DRAM is a non issue for me. I run Linux openSUSE Tumbleweed and without any tweaking the OS recognizes that this SSD is not equippped with a DRAM chip and therefore uses a part of the RAM as DRAM.

The laptop is super fast and responding very well in my use case.

Only thing that might be an issue for some laptop users is that decrypting a LUKS2 encrypted file system (full disk encryption including Boot & SWAP) on my laptop takes quite long. But it's not said that this is due the ADATA Legend 840 SSD (possibly it's the missing DRAM chip) . The quite long decryption time could also be due to other components.
