QNAP has introduced three new NAS servers with the TS-x31K series, which are named TS-131K, TS-231K, TS-431K. The new series is aimed at home users, but is the most affordable entry-level series, which is still the TS-x31P series.
The new TS-x31K series is equipped with a quad-core SoC from Annapurna Labs, namely the AL-214 with 4x 1.7 GHz. This is not new, but was already used by some devices 5 years ago. In addition there is 1 Gigabyte RAM, which is soldered and cannot be extended.
Depending on the model the NAS servers are equipped differently. The small TS-131K model has only one hard disk slot and one Gigabit LAN port. The larger TS-231K and TS-431K models have two and four hard disk slots, respectively, and both have two Gigabit LAN ports. What the three models have in common, however, are the three USB 3.0 ports and the lockable and tool-less hard drive mounts.
To increase data security, the NAS servers are equipped with AES-256 encryption, and snapshots can be taken.
