Last year in September, Samsung presented its latest generation of SSDs at the Samsung SSD Global Summit 2016. Last year we published a test of the Samsung SSD 960 Pro 1 TB. Now we looked at the two top models again and compared them with each other.
The Samsung SSDs 960 Pro and 960 Evo rely on the NVMe M.2 standard. This protocol offers transfer rates of up to 4,000 MB/s. The SSD 960 Pro offers read rates of up to 3,500 MB/s and write rates of 2,100 MB/s. The SSD 960 Evo is a little slower, but still faster than the competition. We have let both SSDs compete against each other with the latest Samsung NVM Express driver 2.1.
