Toshiba has unveiled the new XG6-P series. These are SSDs for high-end PCs and data centers with up to 2 TB storage capacity. Compared to the previous XG5-P series, the write speed has been increased by 30 percent.
The SSD, equipped with 96 Layer BiCS Flash 3D TLC (3-Bit-per-Cell) on one side, is connected via PCIe-3.0 with four lanes. It delivers write rates of up to 2,920 MB/s and read rates of up to 3,180 MB/s. The IOPS are up to 355,000 reading and 365,000 writing. With a consumption of 5 watts, it delivers a good performance/energy consumption ratio.
Especially for data centers, security options such as TCG Pyrite Version 1.0 for Non-SED (Self-Encypting Drive) configurations and TCG Opal Version 2.01 for SED implementations are included.
The Toshiba XG6-P series will be shown for the first time at Interop Tokyo 2019 from 12 to 14 June. Prices and availability have not yet been announced. OEM customers will receive samples from mid-June.
