Some Web pages, including Twitter, Instagram and YouTube, will no longer be accessible through the outdated Microsoft Web browser Internet Explorer (IE) as of November 2020. Instead, according to a report from ZDNet, the web pages will automatically load via the newer browser Edge. The forced IE-to-edge action is implemented starting with Edge version 87. A total of 1,156 web pages are affected.
As reason for this drastic step Microsoft cites the fact that the outdated IE does not display the design correctly on many modern web pages. The forced change is necessary because even years after the release of Edge the chromium-based browser is still not used by many Windows users.
Only corporate customers will be able to prevent the forced calls via Edge using a group policy from November...
