EA has announced that it will gradually demonstrate the capabilities of its new Frostbite graphics engine over the next few weeks. The first demo shows the possibilities of the hair animations, which are considered to be particularly difficult.
According to EA, EA will proceed step-by-step with the calculation of hair in real time until the effects are no longer distinguishable from movies and render scenes. Ultimately, this would mean that film quality from traditional gaming machines would have to be calculated in real time.
Exactly when the effects shown in the trailer, where special emphasis was placed on the light reflections of colored strands, will really be available in games, EA has not yet revealed.
