In the run-up to Computex 2019, Intel presented the Intel Core i9-9900KS, a real highlight in the desktop processor segment. The new CPU with the name extension „S“ for Special has a base clock of 4 GHz and a turbo clock of 5 GHz, which can be used in parallel on all 8 cores or 16 threads. Unfortunately Intel didn’t mention the TDP of the processor during the performance, but starting from the Intel i9-9900K a value beyond 100 watts is absolutely realistic.
According to Intel, the Intel Core i9-9900KS wafers used are identical to the other processors of the i9 9900 family, so the higher clock rate was only achieved through a stricter selection of the best chips available. So far, no Intel processor has offered 5 GHz in parallel for all cores ex works. Despite the enormous increase, the onboard GPU, which is hardly interesting for gamers, is still active.
Intel has not yet mentioned the price of the new CPU. The chip will be available in stores from the fourth quarter of 2019...
