Realme GT 2 Pro: New flagship smartphone with Snapdragon 8 Gen1

Much has been known about the premium smartphone Realme GT 2 Pro already since the first unveiling in January. The manufacturer has now officially unveiled the device at MWC 2022. The features can keep up with absolute flagships, but the price is set much lower.

Realme GT 2 Pro: Details and features

The Realme GT 2 Pro is equipped with Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Gen1 SoC, which is supported by 8 GB or 12 GB of working memory depending on the variant. The flash storage is 128 GB or 256 GB, respectively.

The smartphone relies on a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 3,216 x 1,440 pixels (525 ppi). The LTPO screen supports dynamic frame rates of 1 to 120 Hz. The peak brightness for HDR content is a bright 1,400 cd/m according to the manufacturer. Robust Corning Gorilla Glass Victus also protects the screen from scratches. The DCI-P3 color space is also fully covered.

Battery and charging time

A 5,000 mAh battery also provides the GT 2 Pro with endurance. The smartphone can be charged quickly with 65 watts, which means it is fully charged from zero to 100 percent in 33 minutes according to Realme. Unfortunately, wireless charging is not supported.

The smartphone is shipped with Android 12 and Realme’s own user interface. Realme promises version upgrades for three years and security updates for four years.

The Realme GT 2 Pro’s cameras

On the back, the Realme GT 2 Pro relies on a triple camera setup. On offer is a 50-megapixel main camera with Sony IMX766 sensor in 1/1.56-inch format, which has optical image stabilization and turns out very fast with an aperture of f/1.8.

It is supported by a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera with a comparatively huge viewing angle of 150 degrees (f/2.2 aperture). A microscope camera with a 40x zoom rounds off the rear setup). A 32-megapixel selfie cam is used on the front, which is equipped with Sony’s IMX615 sensor. It has a field of view of 80.6 degrees and an aperture of f/2.4.

Prices and availability

The Realme GT 2 Pro comes at a comparatively low price despite premium features. It will be available in Germany from March 08, 2022 and starts at an MSRP of 749 euros for the variant with 8 GB of RAM, as well as 128 GB of system memory. The top model with 12 GB RAM and 256 GB ROM is priced at 849.99 euros.

At launch, the manufacturer offers a 100 euro discount on both variants, so we end up at 649 euro, respectively 749 euro. The GT 2 Pro is offered in the colors Paper Green, Paper White and Steel Black.
