Shokz OpenRun Pro available now

Does the term bone-conduction technology mean anything to you? If this is not the case, it does not have to be unpleasant for you. After all, the special bone-sound technology is used in really few headphone models. Now, a premium sports headphone from the rather unknown manufacturer Shokz is going on sale, which relies on just that technology.

Advantages of bone-sound technology

As the name already suggests, the bone sound technology uses the bones of the listener. In particular, the cheekbones are used to transmit sound. The advantages of this technology are obvious, especially in the field of sports. After all, the wearer’s ears remain completely free, since the music is not transmitted through the ear canal.

This is exactly the principle that the OpenRun Pro follows. In doing so, Shokz aims to eradicate the disadvantages of previous headphones with bone-sound technology. The Achilles heel of this technology has so far been the only satisfactory audio quality. In addition to a better sound performance, the wearing comfort of the latest model is also supposed to have been improved. Sounds like an ambitious project.

Featherweight companion

The weight of just 29 grams should be particularly responsible for the high wearing comfort. This should not be felt, especially because the headphones run like a band around the back of the head. The placement over the ears ensures a tight fit. This is where the headphones hold on tight, so to speak. The use of titanium is supposed to guarantee durability. In contrast to the predecessor, Shokz also promises better usability. The manufacturer has enlarged the buttons for this. The most important settings for volume and playback can be made via these.

App has been revised

For detailed settings, you can also use an app in the latest version of the Knochenschall headphones. Here, among other things, you can make individual adjustments to the sound within the framework of an equalizer. And this should really be worth seeing or hearing. The ninth generation of bone-sound technology is used for this. This is called Shokz TurboPitch. In addition to powerful basses, you should also be able to hear very detailed trebles via the cheekbones.

For this, Shokz has adjusted the vibrations of the headphones according to its own specifications. Very commendable is the fact that Shokz brings the so-called “Bluetooth multipoint pairing” into play with the OpenRun Pro. This allows you to connect the sports headphones to multiple source devices at once. This ensures seamless switching between different sources. To ensure that the wireless transmission also takes place in high quality and with as much stability as possible, Shokz relies on Bluetooth 5.1.

Most suitable for outdoor use

Resilience and stamina are two virtues that sports headphones should definitely have. And here the OpenRun Pro seems to deliver, at least on paper. This already starts with the battery performance. The headphones are supposed to last up to ten hours. Once the battery is empty, a quick-charge function quickly provides for replenishment.

Within just five minutes of charging, you should already have enough power for another hour and a half of listening. According to Shokz, one has fully charged the 140 mAh battery after one hour. From the damaging penetration of dust or water, the OpenRun Pro is protected according to IP55 standard.

Price and Availability

You can buy the OpenRun Pro now for an MSRP of 189.95 euros. You can choose between the colors black and blue.
