EPOS ventures into new areas: S6 Webcam presented

Gamescom more than succeeded in making a comeback in 2022 after a forced break due to the corona. There were not only plenty of games to marvel at for visitors, but also hardware highlights. Among other things, EPOS presented its first in-house webcam, the EPOS S6. This resolves at 4K and is said to be ideally suited not only for streaming and gaming, but also for video conferencing.

EPOS is setting itself up more broadly

Actually, we know EPOS mainly as experts for the best audio technology. Starting with the headset to the microphone and headphones, you can always expect the highest quality from Sennheiser’s former sub-brand. We could already convince ourselves of that personally. With the EPOS H3PRO Hybrid (test) and the EPOS H6PRO Open gaming headset (test), we have put two really good headsets under the microscope. Now, however, the independent company apparently wants to expand its lineup.

The EPOS S6 is the manufacturer’s first webcam on the market. And this one can really be seen. It scores not only with a pleasingly simple, compact design. The portable design, which is underlined by the included hard case for storage, should also appeal to many gamers. A mechanical lens cover ensures privacy during use. The attachment is very easy thanks to the integrated clip. Thus, it can be easily attached to the monitor.

The best conditions for streamers, gamers and office

In addition to user comfort and a pretty design, the EPOS S6 also scores in terms of technology. For example, you can record videos in up to 4K here. At maximum resolution, 30 frames per second are possible, and 60 frames per second at 1080p. Among other things, an automatic light correction is supposed to ensure high image quality. Individual adjustments of the image can be made in the settings of the EPOS Connect software. The field of view can also be adjusted here. Thanks to the two integrated microphones, the EPOS S6 also has everything you need for video conferencing. Thanks to Plug&Play, you also don’t have to install any annoying drivers and can get started right away.

Price and availability

The EPOS S6 is scheduled for launch later this year. According to the manufacturer, the compact webcam will go on sale in the fourth quarter at an MSRP of 199.00 euros.
