The smart video doorbell Ring Video Doorbell is one of the most popular solutions in Germany. Now the manufacturer offers a new model that comes up with additional features, a three times longer battery life and much more: the Ring Video Doorbell Plus.
The Ring Video Doorbell Plus in detail
Highlights of the Ring Video Doorbell Plus include a battery life three times longer than the first generation Ring Video Doorbell. Additionally, it features a 150×150-degree field of view and the highest HD resolution of any battery-powered video doorbell from Ring.
Thanks to the extended field of view, people in front of the door are now detected from head to toe. When paired with a Ring Protect subscription, package notifications become even more useful as packages in front of the door are automatically detected and a notification is issued to the smartphone.
The video doorbell has a particularly high resolution of 1536p, providing a crisp image with a clear view of the area in front of the front door. The main functions are of course carried over from the original Video Doorbell:
“With user-definable motion zones, they specify where the device detects motion, while they can exclude privacy areas from their camera’s field of view. Using live video and two-way communication, residents:inside talk in real time to people standing outside their door,” the manufacturer promises in the introduction of the new model.
Significantly increased battery life
In addition to the improved image quality, the increased battery life is also one of the advantages of the Ring Video Doorbell Plus. This is now three times as long as the normal Video Doorbell, but unfortunately the manufacturer does not give concrete figures.
Just like the other battery-powered devices, the Battery Video Doorbell Plus has a quick-change battery pack and the option to connect a Ring solar panel for constant power.
A Ring Protect subscription unlocks many helpful features, including Ring notifications, people and package tracking. Whereby here yes in the USA starting from end of March 2023 the (so far optional) subscription becomes the obligation. How that will behave with us in Europe is currently still unclear.

The new Ring Video Doorbell Plus will be available from April 13, 2023 at a price of 179.99 euros on Ring.com and Amazon.
